How it works

  • Weigh empty on scales at the Scale House
  • Inform staff of which material that you want to pick up
  • Follow directions to the bin or material pile
Main office and scales for Asphalt Materials Inc.
  • Pull up next to bin or pile that you wish to be loaded with
  • Inform operator of how many tons or cubic yards that you wish to be loaded with
  • If material is sold by the cubic yard, it is being measured by the bucket size that is loading it. There are multiple different bucket sizes that you may be loaded with. The operator will know which size he has on.
  • Remember most equipment that is loading you does not have scales, they are eyeballing the amount, and it is not always a perfect system. You may end up with a little more or less than desired if purchasing by the ton. But an accurate weight will be determined at the scale house when you weigh out.

  • Return to the Scale House to be weighed out with your heavy weight. This ensures an accurate total weight is charged.

Benefits of using Rock, Sand or Soil Products in your Landscape

Beautiful

Much of the credit for how popular rock and sand landscaping is among homeowners is due to the beautiful look it gives any home. Rocks and sands that are used for landscaping come in a variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and colors, making them a versatile option that can fit the aesthetic of any home and add a beautiful accent to any yard

Practical

The practicality of rock and sand landscaping is unquestionable. Firstly, it can be relatively inexpensive, making it a reasonable option for people on a budget. In addition, rock and sand landscaping can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Stairways
  • Pathways
  • As a foundation for installations such as a fountain or rock garden
  • As accents to key areas of a yard, such as a garden or fire pit.

Convenient

One of the greatest appeals of rock and sand landscaping is the convenience. Any landscaping that is done with these materials will not require much maintenance or upkeep and will replace the need to actively care for a lawn. There will be no need to worry about or prepare for extreme temperatures, rain, snow, or other weather, as the rocks and sand will remain undamaged by them for years to come.

Tips for Landscaping with Rock and Sand

Plan ahead. Although rocks and sands can be moved once they are installed, it takes time and effort to do so. Before you make any final decisions about rock and sand landscaping, plan ahead and determine the aesthetic you want in order to avoid any complications. For example, if you decide to replace a section of your yard with gravel, deciding to move the gravel will require you to replant the lawn as well as find a way to transfer the gravel.

Use it as an accent. Rocks and sands are a perfect way to highlight key areas of your yard, such as a pond, patio, or garden. Even a small amount can have a large effect on the beauty and style of your home.

Hire a professional. Rock and sand landscaping can be tricky and even dangerous when done incorrectly. Especially if you are considering landscaping with large rocks, it’s a job that is better left to professionals who have experience with maximizing efficiency while minimizing danger.
